The intercultural competence is of crucial importance in our interconnected world. Intercultural competence is the body of knowledge and skills to successfully interact with people from other ethnic, religious, cultural, national, and geographic groups. When someone has a high degree of intercultural competence, they are able to have successful interactions with people from different groups. People must be curious about other cultures, sensitive to cultural differences, and also willing to modify their behavior as a sign of respect for other cultures. The International relations office of UGD organized an event called “Paris is a holiday and France is always a good idea” which took place at December 4, 2017 at the Conference hall at the Faculty of Law. The event had a mission to promote the French culture, the tradition of France and the opportunities for studying in France.
“Today we celebrate the French culture at UGD in Stip. We have visitors from the French Institute in Skopje and the Balkan Erasmus office. This is one of the many events of this type”, said Kiril Barbareev, PhD, Vice-rector at Goce Delcev University.
The director of the French Institute in Skopje emphasized that this event is a good opportunity for the students to get to know more about France and the opportunities for studying there.
“I am very pleased to visit the Goce Delcev University in Stip. I am grateful for the warm reception. Today I will talk about diplomacy in general and the diplomacy in France, as well as the opportunities for continuing the education in France. I hope the students will ask their questions on this matter. We have scholarships and programs that the students can take advantage of”, said Emmanuel Rimbert, a director of the French Institute in Skopje and a cultural counselor at the French Embassy in Macedonia. After promoting the tradition and the French culture, the event attendees had a chance to taste some French food and wine.
